Sam Guzik is a journalist, futurist and product strategist. He is the Director of Product for New York Public Radio and a Foresight Affiliate at the Future Today Institute.

Before joining WNYC, he worked at Hearst Newspapers as a product director leading two lines of business: subscription products and newsroom tools. Before that, he served as editor for strategy and platforms in Newsday’s opinion department. In that role, he was a member of the editorial board, responsible for translating the board’s voice to digital platforms. He was a leader in planning and securing $1.5 million of grant funding for nextLI, a project dedicated to creating a community to discuss Long Island’s future.

Sam has taught video production, data visualization and interactive design at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He started his career as a reporter and photojournalist, with work appearing in The Bronx Free Press, St. Louis Jewish Light, AOL News and on NPR.org.

He holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and is a graduate of Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he was recognized with a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where he led Student Life, the university’s independent, student-run newspaper and one of the oldest newspapers in Missouri. He remains involved with Student Life as a member of the paper’s alumni board of directors.
