Sam Guzik is a multimedia journalist specializing in visual and interactive storytelling. Currently, he is the multimedia editor of Newsday’s editorial board, working to expand the board’s digital presence.
Most recently, Sam served as a digital media associate at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, teaching video production, data visualization and interactive design. In addition, he has worked as a freelance reporter and photojournalist for the The Bronx Free Press, the St. Louis Jewish Light and AOL News.
He is a graduate of Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he was recognized with a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship. Prior to attending Columbia, Sam studied at Washington University in St. Louis where he worked for Student Life — the university’s independent, student-run newspaper and one of the oldest newspapers in Missouri. At Student Life, he spearheaded efforts to redesign the paper’s website and increase the use of multimedia, as Editor in Chief and then as the paper’s Director of New Media. He remains involved with Student Life as the director of the paper’s alumni critiquing program.
